State-by-state recaps of major storm days

Each recap documents a significant severe weather day in one state: where damaging wind, large hail, or tornado activity concentrated, which counties and communities were most affected, and what the public record — NWS warnings, Local Storm Reports, radar estimates, station observations — actually shows for that date. Recaps are indexed by state and date specifically to support date-of-loss research: when you need to know what happened in a state on a given day, the recap assembles the public evidence in one place.

How to use a recap

Start from the storm day (found here, on the Storm Calendar, or in the Date-of-Loss Database), read what the record shows statewide, then resolve the property-level question — did it reach this address? — with the Free Report Snapshot or a full Weather Report. Statewide context lives on the state storm data pages.
